A Breather Valve is an automatic pressure and vacuum relief device installed on storage tanks and vessels. It allows the tank to safely “breathe” as internal pressure changes during filling, emptying, temperature fluctuations, evaporation, and condensation.
When the pressure inside the tank rises above the preset pressure setting, the pressure relief mechanism opens to release excess vapour. When the tank pressure falls below the preset vacuum setting, the vacuum mechanism opens to allow air or suitable gas into the tank.
This automatic operation helps prevent overpressure, tank vacuum, structural deformation, and product loss.
